Remote Education at Thurnby Mead
At Thurnby Mead, we are committed to ensuring that learning continues seamlessly, even when pupils cannot attend school in person. This page outlines our approach to remote education and the support available for our pupils and families.
Our Remote Learning Approach
We use Microsoft Teams and Class Dojo to deliver remote education. Pupils can access lessons, resources, and feedback through this platform, ensuring continuity in their education.
Expectations for Pupils
To maintain engagement and progress, we set clear expectations for daily learning:
- Key Stage 1: 3 hours of learning per day on average across the cohort.
- Key Stage 2: 4 hours of learning per day on average across the cohort.
- Pupils are expected to complete assigned tasks, participate in live or pre-recorded lessons, and submit their work as instructed.
Access and Support
We understand that not all pupils have access to technology at home. To support families:
- Devices can be loaned to pupils who need them.
- Printed materials can be provided for pupils who are unable to access online learning
If you require support with technology, please contact the school office.
Curriculum and Feedback
Our remote education follows the same curriculum as in-school learning, ensuring that pupils do not fall behind. Feedback is provided regularly through:
- Comments on submitted work.
- Online quizzes and assessments.
- Verbal feedback during live lessons.
Safeguarding and Wellbeing
The safety and wellbeing of our pupils remain our highest priority. During remote learning:
- All live lessons are conducted through secure platforms.
- Staff follow safeguarding protocols at all times.
- Regular check-ins with pupils are conducted to monitor wellbeing and engagement.
Communication with Parents
We keep parents informed through regular updates via email, our school website, and Class Dojo. For any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
We appreciate your continued support in ensuring that learning remains a priority for every child at Thurnby Mead, no matter the circumstances.
